Resumes.

THE TIME HAS COME

I am slowly starting to look at job openings and internships for what I want to go into after I am done with college (which is 50 days!!!) and I have been coming across a few I don't think would hurt to apply for. I figure I will be done soon, maybe if they like me they will hold the position a little longer or maybe they are looking for someone to start around the time I am done.

The only problem...

That means I need to have strong and good looking resume, which I don't have. I have been looking at a bunch of different websites to see how I am actually supposed to set up a resume, but they are all different. I don't know what exactly to put in my resume, what the sections should be, or how much information to put down, and so on.

Anyone want to give me some helpful suggestions? PLEASE!

A REAL job!?

Now that I am close to the end of my education here at SMSU I need to start thinking about finding a big girl job.

People always made it seem like it was really hard to find that job that you want right out of college, and I really hope that isn't true... But so far it seems like everyone is right.

I have contacted a few people for helpful information on what to do or where to look for a job when I am done in December. I have got many answers but none of them are very promising. I am starting to panic. I don't want to be a server the rest of my life. I can barely stand working more than a weekend at the place I work at!

I NEED CHANGE AND I NEED TO START MY LIFE!

But it is scary to think that I have to do this on my own. With no help from a professor or parent. I am pretty much on my own.

AND I AM TERRIFIED.

VEGAS BABY!

I recently got back from my weekend trip to Vegas. Let me say, it was a blast!

FRIDAY
We got to our hotel and went straight to the hotel's pool. At 7 a limo picked us up at our hotel and brought us to Downtown Vegas. I would have to say the limo ride was one of the top most things I enjoyed! Downtown was awesome too! It was very clean compared to The Strip and it was less crowded.

SATURDAY
We went to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville pool party! There was a band and lots of fun people. We stayed here and drank here pretty much all day. At night we all got dressed and went out on The Strinp. We pretty much just went to a bunch of different hotels to see what they were like.

SUNDAY
We gambled the most this day. We watched the Vikings game at a bar and got ready for our flight.

I did forget to mention how much I actually gambled, I'll keep it short.

Vegas got the best of me. It was a nice get away though!

64 DAYS!

The countdown is on! I officially have 64 more days until I am no longer a college student! Right now, I am pretty excited about it!
No more night class
No more homework
No more studying
No more excessive amounts of stress

The list could go on...

But there are also thing I know I will miss.
No more running into my friends I only see at school
No more getting into games for free
No more homecomings/Hawaiian night to look forward to

I don't know what I will like more, being in college or being done with college. I guess we will find out soon enough!

This can't be happening AGAIN!

I have been through three cars since I turned 16. Some might say I'm lucky. Others might say, wow your spoiled. But the truth is.....

I HAVE TERRIBLE LUCK WITH VEHICLES

For some reason engine problems always haunt me. The first car I had was a 2001 Volvo. That baby was FAST! I loved that car, but then the engine blew on me. We decided to get a different car instead of spending 2K on fixing it.

BUT THAT MEANT I GOT A NEW CAR!!

Then I got a 2001 Ford Focus. I had that thing for a month or two when I was in the cities and my key wouldn't turn over.... AT ALL. So I called my dad. Got a ride from my friend and the next day my dad had it towed home.. turns out THE ENGINE BLEW IN THAT ONE TOO..

This time we decided to fix the engine because we didn't want the same thing happening again. Well Diego lasted 2 more years or so, then a cylinder was shot. That would've costed around 2K as well.

Last spring I FINALLY found a car. A 2003 Nissan Altima. I hated the gold color at first, but I loved how it ran compared to my other cars.

Which brings me to today... I turned on my car and it was sputtering, or spitting, you would call it. Well I had to drive to school. The whole drive my check engine light was flashing and my car started to smell funny. Luckily I got it home fine after class.

I will no longer own a vehicle if this is an engine problem again. Wish me luck............

Hello, My name is Becca and I will be your server tonight.

I am a waitress at a local Sports Bar and Grill here in Marshall. I have been working there for almost 3 years, which is crazy to think. I have met so many people and experienced so many things that I will never forget.

My friends think that it is weird that my customers make my day (most of the time.) It is hard not to be in a good mood when you get to talk to people you have never met before. Usually people are so nice and want to actually get to know their waitress. The questions, "So do you go to college here?" and "What are you going to school for?" get brought up A LOT! But I don't mind talking about myself or what I want to do with my life.

One of my customers bought me a bottle of wine.. YES WINE! It was so sweet! We were talking about wine and I told him that I wasn't a fan of red wines so I couldn't recommend my favorite. After he paid and tipped me he went to the liquor store and bought me a bottle of red wine. I don't remember what it was but it was SO GOOD! I wish I kept the bottle. How many waitresses can say that they had a customer buy them a bottle of wine!?? Probably not many:)

While there are customers that make my day, there are also customers that can ruin my night. I have had only one table walk out on me. The reasoning is: I wasn't allowed to give a beer to a person who wasn't even in the restaurant yet, for obvious reasons.

Thank God I have more good experiences than bad. People need to realize servers get busy and make mistakes. They also need to realize we bust our asses to make them happy, even if they don't see it.

Need a little bit of Inspiration?

Everyone gets their inspiration from a different place. I would like to share one of mine with you.

This is a video that I saw my Senior year of High School. We watched in my Geography class. I enjoy this video so much. Every time I watch it I get the chills.

The video is made by a man named Matt who was sponsored by Stride, the gum company, to dance and travel around the world. I don't know how this guy convinced Stride into paying him to travel the world just so he can dance, but he did it.

I love this video because it reminds me anything is possible and even though there is bad in the world there is always good that outweighs it.

Watch the video. Let me know what you think about it.

I might be weird and be the only who loves this, but WHATEVER!!

The Best Invention Made

NETFLIX

If you don't know what this word means your life must SUCK!

Netflix came into my life as a child, when my babysitter picked certain movies to be mailed to her weekly. She would mail them back while choosing new movies to be sent. I loved it because she ALWAYS had a new movie for me to watch.

Now days, I can lay in bed, turn on my X-box, I-pad, or computer and watch a movie/show in the click of a button. There are SO many good shows on here as well as a good selection of movies. These movies might not be Best Picutre/Film movies but they are still mostly good movies.

AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE TV SHOWS!!!!
I have feel in love with shows I never thought I would watch. And I can watch them at my convenience.

My favorite are..

  • How I Met Your Mother
  • Lost
  • Orange is the New Black

What has happened America?

In today's society people have lost respect, dignity, and obedience. This angers me. Decades ago people responded to parents, teachers, elders, and figures of authority with Mr. or Mrs. Today, that has gone out the window. I hear people call others "bitch" or "asshole" more than anything else. It is not uncommon for a child to make their own rules in a household rather than the parents. These children are walking all over their parents and teachers, or any other figure.

What has happened America?

I came across a video that made me so disgusted. The video is about a man who was pulled over by the cops because they thought he was wearing headphones. I don't know where this video was taken, but I do know that in some states, it is illegal to wear headphones while driving.

The man in the video is so rude and disrespectful to the police officer, claiming that the officer is racist and shoots black people.

Now, I don't believe the man was doing anything wrong, but that does not give him the right to act like this. People make mistakes, this police officer probably made the mistake of pulling this man over. And I can guarantee the man taking the video has made many mistakes before, one of which is acting so disrespectful and uploading this video.

Most Police Officers want to better communities, fight crime, and keep communities safe. They are only doing their job.

SHOW A LITTLE RESPECT!!!

I couldn't imagine wanting to get yelled at every day by people like this who think they are better off without cops. I couldn't do it.

Here is the video below. Also, pay attention to the comments under the video. #smh
